Speakers include industry experts both from academia and investment management. The LGT CP ESG Academy aims to facilitate active discussion and interaction, with the goal to enable an open dialogue and learning.

The LGT CP ESG Academy includes accommodation for two nights (13 – 15 September 2023) as well as all meals during the event days.

Annu Nieminen
Upright Project, Founder/CEO

Annu Nieminen is the founder and CEO of Upright, a technology company building a new type of an AI-enabled quantification model to measure the net impact of companies. Upright’s mission is to create concrete incentives for companies to optimize their net impact, by enabling more fact-based decision-making for investors, customers, employees, and public sector organizations.

Upright’s quantification model draws

together masses of scientific publications and company-disclosed data to

quantify both positive and negative impacts that companies have on the

environment, health of people, society and knowledge. Upright’s open-access

impact data platform is currently used by 200+ institutional investors and

companies to track, report and improve their net impact. Nieminen has been

chosen as an Innovator Under 35 by the MIT Technology Review, and holds a M.

Sc. (Eng.) in Information Networks from Aalto University. Prior to founding

Upright, Nieminen worked as a consultant at McKinsey & Company and as CEO

of Finnish scaleup initiative Kasvuryhmä.

Christian Binz
Research Group Leader at Eawag

Christian Binz is concentrating on the question of how urban infrastructure can be transformed towards greater sustainability. After completing his PhD at Eawag and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, he held postdoctoral positions in the USA, China and Sweden, including a year in the Sustainability Science Program at Harvard University. Since 2017, he has been leading a research group at Eawag that focuses on environmental innovations in the water and energy sectors and explores how globalization supports or hinders sustainability transformations. He is also active on the board of the global Sustainability Transitions Research Network and is in close contact with cities and companies experimenting with green technologies and innovative approaches to a circular economy.

Patricia Volhard
Partner, Debevoise & Plimpton LLP

Patricia Volhard is a partner in Debevoise’s Frankfurt, London and Paris offices and is a member of the firm’s Private Equity and Funds/Investment Management Groups. Her practice focuses on advising private funds, including on a range of European regulatory issues and structuring funds for EU insurance companies and pension funds.

Ms. Volhard is one of Europe’s leading private funds regulatory lawyers and has played a prominent role in the ongoing development of the area. She is Chair of Invest Europe’s Financial Services/Regulatory Working Group, a member of its SFDR working group, and former Chair of its Tax, Legal & Regulatory Committee. In Germany, she is a member of the Board of the BVK, and heads its Legal Committee. In the UK, she is a member of the regulatory committee of the BVCA.

Ms. Volhard has been named as one of the 20 most influential lawyers in Europe by Private Equity News, and is consistently recognised by the major legal directories as a leader in her field.

Prof. Dr. Reto Knutti
Head of the Climate Physics Group at ETH

Prof. Dr. Reto Knutti is head of the Climate Physics Group at the Institute for Atmosphere and Climate of the Department of Environmental Sciences at ETH Zurich. He is part of ETH's Center for Climate Systems Modeling (C2SM) competence center and is one of the leading minds when it comes to objectively representing climate change. He and his research group are studying how increasing emissions of greenhouse gases are affecting the global climate. Using a variety of climate models, the researchers are developing methods to quantify future impacts on climate and to specify the uncertainties that exist regarding them. In 2018, Prof. Dr. Reto Knutti was awarded the Dr. J.E. Brandenberger Foundation Prize, one of Switzerland's highest foundation prizes, for his outstanding achievements in climate change research and for communicating his findings to the public.

Simon Vetter
CEO at Vetterhof

Simon Vetter completed a degree in agronomics at the University of Vienna and has a formal education in farming. Since 2016, he is managing the Vetterhof with 20 employees in Lustenau. Moved by the need of everyday work, he developed a software for the direct sale of food, which he now sells to interested parties. International exchange is a major concern for him: aside his stay abroad in Sierra Leone/West Africa, he is a member of the EU project Farmers of the Future. Simon Vetter has also been active in regional development for several years now and was awarded the Austrian Climate Protection Prize in 2017.

Willem Vosmer
Partner at Steward Redqueen

Willem is an expert on sustainable finance, impact investing, and impact measurement & management. He is a partner at Steward Redqueen. He has 15+ years of experience in the field of sustainable finance, impact investing and impact measurement & management. He works with a wide array of clients from both developed and emerging markets and helps them put responsible investment strategies into practice.

His client base ranges from commercial banks, institutional investors, private equity firms, development finance institutions and niche impact investors. Clients appreciate Willem for his practical approach to putting responsible investment strategies into practice by means of efficient and effective operational mechanisms. Willem is frequently invited to share his insights on impact, sustainable finance and impact management as well as to facilitate (internal) discussions on an organisation’s approach to these topics.

Alexander Zanker
Head ESG analytics

Alexander Zanker is a managing director in the ESG analytics team of LGT Capital Partners in Pfaeffikon, Switzerland. He is responsible for the team and for the use of the tool ESG Cockpit. Alexander is a member of the ESG committee of the LGT CP. He started his career as an analyst at Commerzbank Securities and we economic research at Deka Investment GmbH, in Frankfurt. From 2008 to 2011 he was Director of Investments at LGT Capital Management in Pfaeffikon, Switzerland. Before returning to work at LGT in 2014, Alexander was a director at Vontobel Asset Management and before that a director at Truewealth AG in Zurich.


Ariane Maurer
ESG Data Analyst

Ariane Maurer is an Analyst in the ESG Analytics team at LGT Capital Partners Ltd. Before joining the firm in 2019, Ms Maurer completed her Master degree in Environmental Sciences at ETH Zürich with a specialization in Atmosphere and Climate. Between her Bachelor and Master studies, Ms Maurer worked as an intern at Zurich Insurance in the Risk Engineering department in the Natural Hazards team. During her master studies, Ms Maurer worked as a tutor at ETH for an applied mathematics course.

Hanna Edström
Head ESG Liquid Markets

Hanna Edström is an Executive Director and responsible for Liquid Markets ESG at LGT Capital Partners in Pfaeffikon, Switzerland. In this capacity, she drives the ESG agenda for the liquid markets including investments, communication and education. Ms. Edström is a member of the ESG committee for LGT Capital Partners. She originally joined the firm in 2008 and spent her first years on the investment side focusing on multi-asset portfolios. In 2017, she moved to Shanghai to work on a range of start-up projects, and then rejoined the firm in 2019. Ms. Edström then moved to the client relationship side, mainly covering Nordic clients before taking on the ESG role. Ms. Edström started her career as an investment officer at IKB Credit Asset Management. She holds an MSc in Business Administration from the Stockholm School of Economics and an MSc in International Management from the Community of European Management Schools (CEMS). Ms. Edström is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), and is fluent in Swedish, English and German.

Keimpe Keuning
Head ESG/Impact Private Markets

Keimpe Keuning is a Principal at LGT Capital Partners in Pfaeffikon, Switzerland, and he chairs the Private Markets ESG Subcommittee. Prior to joining the firm in 2018, he was portfolio manager for sustainable private equity at RobecoSAM in Zurich, a boutique investment firm focusing on sustainable and responsible investing. Earlier in his career, he worked for Fortis Bank as an associate director in investment banking in Amsterdam. Mr. Keuning holds a Msc in Tax Law from Leiden University and is a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA). He is fluent in Dutch, English and German.

Natalie Sediako
Head of Impact Co-Investments

Natalie Sediako is a Principal at LGT Capital Partners Ltd. Prior to joining the firm in 2016, she was an associate director at Rising Tide Foundation in Schaffhausen, Switzerland, where she focused on private equity investing. Before that, she was an investment manager for PSP Investments in Canada, focusing on private equity co-investments and special situations. Earlier in her career, Ms. Sediako worked as an investment banker at Credit Suisse in Canada. She holds a BComm from Queen’s University in Canada and an MBA, with distinction, from INSEAD. She is fluent in English, Mandarin and Russian.

Peter Sigg
Senior Investment Strategiest

Peter Sigg is an Executive Director and a senior investment strategist at LGT Capital Partners Ltd. He is responsible for strategic research projects of LGT’s multi-asset portfolios. Before joining the firm in 2007, Mr Sigg worked for AXA Investment Managers as quantitative portfolio manager of equity and dynamic multi-asset strategies. Since joining LGT, Mr Sigg has contributed to the further evolution of investment processes and capabilities across the firm as portfolio manager and investment strategist. Since 2016 his focus is on the strategic asset allocation of the Princely Portfolio (GIM). Mr Sigg holds a Masters degree in Business Administration from the University of St. Gallen (HSG) and holds the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designation. He is an academic lecturer at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences.

Stefan Lügstenmann
Impact and ESG Specialist

Stefan Lügstenmann is an Impact & ESG Specialist in the private equity team at LGT Capital Partners Ltd. Prior to joining the firm in 2021, Mr Lügstenmann was a senior sustainability consultant at Sustainserv Inc. Earlier in his career, he served as the assistant of Switzerland’s Special Envoy for Global Sustainable Development. Mr Lügstenmann holds a Master’s degree in Development Studies from the Geneva Graduate Institute (IHEID) and is a Certified ESG Analyst (CESGA).

Tycho Sneyers
Managing Partner and PRI Board Member

Tycho Sneyers is a Managing Partner at LGT Capital Partners Ltd., where he has served on the Executive Management Team since 2001. He has initiated and led the firm‘s ESG efforts since 2002. He has chaired the ESG Committee since its inception and has steered the firm‘s efforts in deeply embedding ESG principles in the investment processes for its various asset classes. Mr. Sneyers currently serves on the board of directors of the UN PRI. Prior to joining the firm in 2001, Mr. Sneyers co-founded Altgate Capital, a research and advisory firm dedicated to alternative investments. Before that, he worked at Goldman Sachs in the Equities and Investment Banking divisions in London and New York. Prior to that, Mr. Sneyers worked at Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) in the Financial Services Strategy group, where he focused on international banking and insurance projects in Brussels, Luxembourg and Paris. Mr. Sneyers holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and an MA in Economics from the University of Antwerp. He is a Belgian/Swiss national, who is fluent in English, Dutch and French, and conversant in German and Spanish.
